If a patient has an open payment request but prefers to pay another way—like using a saved payment method, in person via terminal, or outside NexHealth—click the Collect payment button for that patient. You'll see a list of their open payment requests. Click the Collect payment button for the correct open payment request, and choose whether to:
Send the balance to your NexHealth terminal
Either view the request and then Charge credit card; or, in the case of cash or check, update your ledger and then Mark as paid.

Overview
Complete the payment request via terminal or card
Sometimes you send a payment request to a patient, but instead of paying online, they may call in to pay by card or to ask you to charge a saved payment method.
1. Find the patient.First, find the patient with your preferred method—for example, via the global search bar—and click the Collect Payment button. |
2. Select the open Payment request.
If they have an outstanding Payment request, NexHealth will alert you. To collect for an open request, click the corresponding Collect payment button. (You can also quickly Send reminder, Mark as paid, or Cancel request from here.)
3. Select appropriate payment method.
You can now review the open request and select the appropriate payment method.
You can select Use terminal to collect the specified amount from your in-office terminal, Charge credit card to use saved payment method (or add a new one and charge), or select Mark as paid if the patient pays via cash or check and you want the payment logged in NexHealth.
Cash and check payments
Sometimes you send a payment request to a patient, but instead of paying online, they walk into your office and hand you cash or a check. To complete the process, you’ll have to Mark as paid or Cancel request, at which point they will not receive further reminders for this request.
1. Collect the cash or check payment.
It’s a physical transaction in the world!
2. Mark as paid.
You Mark as paid from the Request details or from the Awaiting payment tab within Payments. This manually marks this payment request as paid in Nexhealth. It will show up as Manually marked as paid in the Transaction history tab and payment reports. This step cannot be undone.
For Ledger Sync customers: When you select this, NexHealth will automatically sync a "NexHealth Manual Payment" to the patient's ledger, so you don't have to manually post the payment yourself.
You can also Cancel request from the Request details or from the Awaiting payment tab within Payments.
This deletes the payment request entirely from NexHealth. The completed payment will not appear in the Transaction history or payment reports.
