How to collect payments

How to reach the Collect payment screen for any NexHealth patient

Regardless of whether you want to collect from the NexHealth credit card terminal, charge a saved payment method (or add a new one), or send a payment request to a patient who has left the office, everything starts from the Collect Payment screen.

There are several ways to reach this page:

  • From the patient search bar at the top of NexHealth - Click the $ button next to any patient

  • From the patient sidebar - From the Actions menu in the top right corner, select Collect payment

  • From the homepage "Today's Appointments" view - Click the $ button in the patient's appointment row

  • From the Payments page - Click the "Collect payment" button in the top right corner

  • LEDGER SYNC ONLY: From the Payments "Not Requested" tab - Click the $ button next to any displayed family

Once you've reached the Collect Payment screen, you must specify how much you wish to collect from the patient.

  • Non-Ledger Sync users are prompted to enter an Amount and Reason (and an optional Appointment Date)

  • Ledger Sync users see all ledger items with open unpaid balances for the selected patient. They can select any subset of the displayed ledger items, and/or enter a "Custom Amount" for collection. If you collect a "Custom Amount," you will be prompted to "Allocate & Sync" before the transaction syncs to your patient ledger.
