Payment Requests

Collect payments from patients with text/email-to-pay links

Updated today

NexHealth Payment requests allow you to quickly and easily request payment from patients who have already left the office. No more expensive paper mailers or time wasted on phone calls—quickly issue digital requests to patients and watch the money come in.

Customize payment requests

NexHealth's Payment template allows you to easily configure and customize the payment request messages, as well as add an automated reminder cadence. Select Templates from the NexHealth menu, and find the Payments template near the bottom of that page. Click here to learn more.

Send payment requests

From the Collect Payment page, once you've specified how much you wish to collect, click the Send Request button to send the text/email-to-pay messages to their patients.

Note: Unpaid Payment Requests automatically expire after 90 days.

Patients will automatically receive the email and text messages you've customized in in your Payments Template. These include a link to a secure payment page, where they can enter their card details, use Apple Pay or Google Pay, or select Affirm to complete the payment.

Payment reminders

Once you've sent a Payment Request, you'll see it displayed on the Payments page in the Awaiting payment tab. For each request, you can see:

  • Patient name

  • Requested date

  • Last reminded date (from either automated Template reminders or manual reminders)

  • Amount requested

On the far right you can see the "Send Reminder" button, which is great if you need to immediately send your patient a bump.

Cash and check payments

Sometimes you send a payment request to a patient, but instead of paying online, they walk into your office and hand you cash or a check. In that situation, you have two options:

  1. Mark as Paid - This manually marks this payment request as paid in Nexhealth. It will show up as "Manually paid" in the Transaction history tab and payment reports.

For Ledger Sync customers: When you select this, NexHealth will automatically sync a "NexHealth Manual Payment" to the patient's ledger, so you don't have to manually post the payment yourself.

  2. Cancel Request - This deletes the payment request entirely from NexHealth. The completed payment will not appear in the Transaction history or payment reports.

Note: Unpaid payment requests automatically expire after 90 days for security reasons and will disappear from this list.
