How do I troubleshoot my NexHealth Payments terminal?

Always charge your terminal on the dock if possible, and wire your dock to an outlet.

Connecting your Terminal Dock

If your NexHealth Payments Terminal arrived with a Dock, this will be the ideal way to properly charge the Terminal.

1. Wire the dock cable through the backside of the Dock.

You can either snake the cable through its track on the underside of the Dock, or you can connect it from the top of the Dock.

2. Align the Terminal on the Dock, and let it charge.

When the Terminal is aligned properly on the Dock, you'll feel it settle into place.

3. Use the Terminal while on the dock, or hand to patients for use.

In NexHealth, initiate payment collection on the Terminal, then either hand the Terminal to the patient or guarantor, or let the patient use the Terminal while it's still on the Dock.

4. After usage, remount the Terminal on the Dock to keep it charged.

If you have a Dock, charge the Terminal on the Dock for more reliable charging than if you plug the cable directly in to the Dock.

If your Terminal is on the Dock, but is not charging, please check:

  • Make sure that the power cord is connected to the Dock.

  • Do not charge the Terminal directly with the power cord while it is on the Dock.

  • A Terminal attached to a charge cable will not charge while on a Dock when that Dock is not attached to a charge cable.

Terminal Dock Troubleshooting

Why won't my terminal turn on?

  • Plug in the terminal with the provided USB-C cable to make sure it has adequate battery charge (it's ok if the terminal is always plugged in).

  • After a couple of minutes, hold down the button on the top of the right side of the terminal for several seconds. You should hear a ping and feel a small vibrate from the terminal, and then it will turn on.

  • If that fails, please contact NexHealth support for more assistance.

Why won't my Terminal charge when it's on the Dock?

  • Ensure the Dock is connected to power.

  • Do not connect the power cord directly to the Terminal while it is on the Dock.

  • If the Dock is not powered, the Terminal will not charge—even if a charging cable is connected to the Terminal.

My Terminal is stuck to the Dock - how do I release it?

If your Terminal won't come off the Dock, it's probably been locked in using the locking nut on the underside of the Dock. Flip over the dock and turn the locking nut to release the terminal. (Hold on to the Dock and Terminal securely while you undo the locking nut, so that the Terminal doesn't fall!)

"Register this reader" error

Your terminal displays "Register this reader" when it hasn't been linked to your NexHealth account. Work through the steps below in order, stopping when the error clears.

Step 1: Restart the terminal

Hold down the power button on the right side of the terminal until the screen turns off. Hold the button again to turn it back on. Once the terminal restarts, check whether the error has cleared.

If the error persists, move to Step 2.

Step 2: Confirm the terminal is registered

Contact NexHealth support. Our team will check whether your terminal appears in your account — have the serial number from the back of the terminal ready.

  • If the terminal is not listed, support will register it for you. Restart the terminal (Step 1) once registration is complete and check whether the error clears.

  • If the terminal is already listed but the error persists, move to Step 3.

Step 3: Re-register the terminal

NexHealth support will remove the existing terminal entry and register it again. To complete re-registration, you'll need to generate a registration code directly from the terminal:

  1. Swipe from the left edge of the terminal screen to the right.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Enter 07139 as the admin PIN.

  4. Tap Generate Pairing Code. The terminal displays three words separated by hyphens — this is your registration code.

Share this code with NexHealth support to complete re-registration.
