Patients always have the option to Unsubscribe from email communications or STOP SMS communications on their own. If, however, you receive a request to stop sending a specific communication to a patient, it is easy to update their preferences in NexHealth.
To update patient communication preferences:
1. Search for the patient’s NexHealth profile in the top left search bar.
2. Click on the patient's name to open the patient profile card.
3. Click Actions and select Communication preferences.
4. Use the toggles at the top to turn off ALL communications via Email or SMS.
5. Alternatively, expand the Appointment or Patient drawers using the down arrows to select specific communications.
To stop messages for a specific appointment:
If you need to opt a patient out for a specific appointment, can use the toggles found in the ellipsis (...) to the right of the patient's name on NexHealth Home. This will override the automation that sends them the template in question so they do not receive it without changing their preferences for future appointments.
Troubleshooting Common Notification Issues
The Patient Isn’t Receiving Notifications:
Check their Notification Preferences and ensure the subscription boxes for relevant templates (e.g., Appointment Reminders) are checked.
Verify the patient's contact information is accurate in NexHealth.
The Patient Still Receives Notifications After Unsubscribing:
Review whether the patient is still subscribed to a separate template category (e.g., "Save the Date" notifications).
Steps to Re-Subscribe a Patient to Notifications
If a patient has unsubscribed from receiving emails and text notifications, follow these steps to re-enable their subscriptions:
Open the patient's profile in NexHealth.
Click on the Actions dropdown in the top-right corner.
Select Notification Preferences.
Locate the specific notification template category (e.g., SMS Reminders).
Re-check the relevant boxes to enable notifications for the desired category.
