This article explains how to configure NexHealth Verification before you run your first check.
This feature requires NexHealth Verification.
Set up your NPIs and Tax IDs
For Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental customers, enter your NPI and Tax ID information directly in your health record system. See How do I keep my NPI and Tax ID valid?
For all other customers, go to Settings → NPI and Tax ID and enter a fallback NPI or a global NPI.
Set the destination folder for your Eligibility PDF sync
Eligibility Summary PDF sync is only available for sync customers.
Adjust the verification window
The default verification window is 7 days before appointments. Verification begins automatically when an appointment enters that window. You can adjust the window in Settings → Verification window. See Can I customize the verification window?
Manage your monthly verification limit
Your NexHealth subscription includes 800 verifications per month. Each verification check counts toward this limit — including checks for the same patient across multiple appointments.
After 800 verifications, each additional check costs $0.20. To prevent overages entirely, go to Settings → Usage management and toggle OFF the Allow overages toggle. When overages are off, automated verification stops once you reach 800.
Block payers from verification
You can prevent NexHealth from running verification checks against specific payers — for example, an in-house savings plan or membership plan that your practice manages directly. Blocking a payer means checks for patients with that payer will not count toward your monthly limit.
To block a payer:
Go to Settings → Blocked payers.
Select the Blocked by your organization tab.
Click Block payer.
Search for the payer by name or ID and select it.
Click Block payer to confirm.
For a payer to appear in the search list, it must be configured as a payer with a payer code in your health record system. If your in-house plan doesn't appear, check how it's set up in your EHR. You can unblock a payer at any time from the same page.
